Lopšelis Nursery Department

Nursery Department

lopselislogoThere are 6 groups and 65 places for homeless children. Healthy homeless children can stay here from their birth until age 3 and disabled children - until age seven. Children are referred here by Children protection agencies and admitted under decree issued by the local administration boards or mayors
Earlier efforts were made only to protect such children and help them to survive. A multidisciplinary team at this department consists from nannies, social workers, nurses, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, psychologist, masseurs, paediatrician and paediatric neurolodist. All these professionals provide services for homeless children to meet their needs in physical and mental development as well as social adaptation.
Nannies organize educational activity such as festivals, birthday parties, picnics.
Every year about 20 homeless children who live in ‘Lopselis' have foster families, have been adopted or return back to their native family.
