The goal of social workers is to provide support for families, raising disabled children and children with development disorders.
Social worker is the member of habilitation team and participates in the children's team discussions and in designing of habilitation programs. They also provide consultation services.Social worker's consultation for family (client) is arranged by referral from a doctor, or client can apply for help himself. Information about the client can also be obtained from other services (social, educational) who can inform about child's neglect or violence in the family.
The main form of social worker‘s activity is consultation of clients. He provides parents with information about aid from state and public organizations (psychological, social services, legal, financial), informs family about institutions, where children can get special help (treatment, training, education).
Recommends educational institution after taking into consideration opinions from other specialists, provides psychological, social help for family members, mediates between family and other institutions: establishes contacts with competent workers of these institutions, provides help and control
After obtaining social history of disabled child and identification of the main problem, discussion of a specific case with a team of specialists takes place. A plan to help the child is created and main problems and ways to solve them are discussed.
