lopselislogoSpeech and language therapist's goal is to provide speech and language therapy to young children with various development disorders. Speech and language therapist coordinates forms and methods of his work with parents. Speech and language therapist‘s work scope is:
1. Speech and language therapist evaluates and with the help of special methods eliminates or diminishes child's speech, voice, eating and communication disorders. Speech and language therapist decides which evaluation tests or methods to choose, selects method of speech therapy or feeding therapy, considering child's disease and general state of health, designs and applies speech /feeding therapy programs, evaluates their efficiency, makes necessary adjustments during the course.
2. Speech and language therapist teaches children alternative (nonverbal) ways of communication, trains their sensory skills by stimulating tactile, emotional, visual, auditory, speech and motor functions, supports all levels of speech development and cognition.
3. Speech and language therapist consults group educators, parents, and other staff working with the children.
4. Speech and language therapist works independently and/or in a team collaborating with other institution's specialists, participates in child's case discussions and in setting up an individual habilitation program.
